For the standalone release, open the DMG, drag Capper into Applications, and launch that installed copy. Follow Welcome → Permissions → Setup → First use → Done. Setup downloads need internet; Capper prepares the writing and dictation tools automatically.

Your 14-day local trial starts with the first local request after setup. No account, API key, or external model server is required. Microphone access is optional; writing works without it.

Onboarding opens automatically for new users; updates keep your completed setup. In Capper 0.1.7, Welcome explains the trial and Done shows your access status with a shortcut to Settings → License. You can also enter your key there at any time.
